Luke 22: 7 – 13

STORY 1.

The sun was shining and the little rabbit was happy. This was the day that Jews enjoyed eating their Passover meal together. “Jesus, where shall we eat supper this evening?” asked his friends. Jesus told two of them to go into the town and follow a man carrying a water pot on his head. He would go into a house and this was where they would have their supper together. The little bunny rabbit overheard Jesus say this, and so he decided to follow the two men. It would be really unusual to see a man carrying a water pot as women always did this work. “There’ll be no mistaking which man or which house” thought the rabbit.

SONG AHCM407

Listen to me, I tell no lies; make rabbit ears with fingers
I’ve seen these things with my own eyes. point to own eyes
Listen to me, I tell no lies; make rabbit ears with fingers
I’ve seen these things with my own eyes. point to own eyes

OPTIONAL GROUP ONE
1.  Peeking round the corner of a house I saw a man
    Walking with a water pot on top of his head.
    He went into a house, two men followed after him.
    “This is where we’ll eat our food with Jesus” they said.

Luke 22: 14 -20 (The Last Supper)
Luke 22: 39, 41 and 45

STORY 2.

That evening, during the meal Jesus showed his friends how they could always remember him – by having bread and wine. After supper was finished the little rabbit saw Jesus lead his friends away from the town out into the countryside. The bunny rabbit quietly followed them and saw Jesus praying on his knees. His friends were fast asleep on the grass.

SONG AHCM407

Listen to me, I tell no lies;
I’ve seen these things with my own eyes.
Listen to me, I tell no lies;
I’ve seen these things with my own eyes.

OPTIONAL GROUP TWO
2. Walking in the grass I saw two people fast asleep,
    Jesus was alone and he was praying on his knees.
    He asked his special friends “Won’t you please stay awake?”
    But they nodded off again with the greatest of ease.

John 18: 3 -37 and 12

STORY 3.

Jesus was praying in one of his favourite quiet places. He had often gone there to get away from the crowds. Judas, who used to be a friend of Jesus, had turned against him. He knew Jesus liked this place, so he had told the Roman soldiers all about it. The soldiers came there that night to arrest Jesus. The little rabbit could not believe his eyes as he saw Jesus being taken away. The rabbit felt very sad.

SONG AHCM407

Listen to me, I tell no lies;
I’ve seen these things with my own eyes.
Listen to me, I tell no lies;
I’ve seen these things with my own eyes.

OPTIONAL GROUP THREE singing quietly
1. Later in the evening I was sad and tried to hide.
Judas came with Roman soldiers. This, I heard them say
“Tie his hands together tightly he might run away”.
Jesus did not try to fight them, but he gently went their way.

Luke 23: 44 – 46

STORY 4.

The next day was just terrible.
The little rabbit saw exactly what happened.
The sky went black and the sun stopped shining.
Jesus wasn’t alive any more.

There Is a Green Hill Far Away traditional
Words: C.F. Alexander 1818 – 95
Music: W. Horsley 1774 – 1858
Arranged: Alison Hedger

There is a green hill far away
Outside the city wall,
Where our dear Lord was crucified.
He died to save us all.

Oh dearly, dearly has he loved
And we must love him too.
And trust in his redeeming blood
And try his works to do.

Matthew 28: 1 – 3 and 9

STORY 5.

The little rabbit watched from behind a tree as Jesus was laid to rest in a cave. The entrance was blocked up with an enormous heavy rock. Everything seemed quiet and still.
The little rabbit enjoyed the peace, and spent nearly all weekend asleep. He was tired.
So imagine how surprised and shocked he was when he was woken up by the ground suddenly shaking from side to side. The huge rock rolled away from the cave entrance all by itself. The rabbit was even more surprised to see Jesus walk out of the cave into the early morning light. The rabbit rubbed his sleepy eyes. Yes, it really was Jesus. He was alive! All the rabbits living in that place were very happy indeed to see Jesus again. They bounced around all over the place with joy.

Lots of little rabbits gather for some lively bunny jumps.

3. We are little bunny rabbits having lots of fun.
Jesus is alive, our new life has just begun.
We’re happy little bunnies playing in the lovely sun.
